Teaching philosophy: Our teaching philosophy at Summit Christian Academy is to educate students at a level comparable to high school honors classes, while providing Christian instruction and meeting the needs of our students in sports, the arts, and technology. To accomplish this, we need to be in partnership with you, the parents. We believe that God has given the ultimate responsibility for the education of children to parents and has called us to assist you with the training and education of your child. We adhere to the Biblical truth: “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Prov. 22:6 (NIV).
Character Development: When our graduates go to college, they should have an advantage over other students in both academics and character. Character is often overlooked in our society. Studies show that U.S. youth are plagued with high rates of stealing (30%), cheating in school (64%), and lying to parents about significant matters (83%). An article titled American teens lie, steal, cheat at 'alarming' rates: study, is included with this packet. We adhere to, and teach, a traditional honor code. "A Summit Academy student will not lie, cheat, or steal, nor tolerate those who do." Our goal at Summit is to work in concert with parents to instill Christian values and character in your children. Part of this spiritual teaching is to develop tomorrow’s Christian leaders. We believe that Christian leadership is applicable to all walks of life.
